Setting up Google Analytics

Filed Under (Online Business Building) by Ryan on 06-12-2008

I’ve set up websites before but I’ve always wondered how many visitors have been going to my sites.  Friends have told me there are ways I can track that but I’ve never got around to doing it, I think because I thought it would be too difficult…

Well I’ve just been told to install Google Analytics and it couldn’t have been easier!

It tells me how many visitors I’m getting, how long they are staying on my website and how many pages they are reading, as well as where they are from in the world and where they have come from online.  ]

And the best part…

Its Free!!

I’ll tell you how I installed it.  It was real easy, I was impressed.

  1. I went over to Google Analytics and signed into my google account (if you don’t have one you can sign up, its free).
  2. I added a new website profile.
  3. Then clicked Finish.

It gave me some code I could then copy and paste on to my website so it could track my traffic.

Now you can paste it on any of your website pages before the </body> tag using notepad editor or your favorite html editor BUT if you have a Wordpress website or blog (like me) it gets even better…

I downloaded the Google Analytics Wordpress Plugin and just pasted the code straight into Wordpress.  No messing with html code whatsoever, how awesome is that?!

Now I can start tracking everything that happens in and around my website.

I recommend everyone install google analytics on all your websites.

  1. Yeah Jeffrey, RSS feeds are confusing so to make it simple I decided to write a post on how to set FeedBurner up in 3 minutes, check it out and give me a yell if you have any more questions mate.

I tried setting up the feedburner and confused with the sping widgets, customised widgets and where and how to copy the code? Care to help me on this.

    Thanks again.
