Use Twitter To Grow Your Business

Filed Under (Online Business Building) by Ryan on 07-01-2009

Twitter blue Over the last few days I have discovered some *awesome* tips and techniques for using Twitter as part of your business.  I have finally signed up for an account and plan to implement a bunch of these techniques very soon.

Not quite sure what Twitter is?

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

Isn’t Twitter just a waste of time?

Chances are, many high profile people that you know, use Twitter.  From business marketers to authors to CEO’s, lots of professionals use Twitter to build relationships with customers, business partners and fans alike.  Thus, twitter is a vessel for easy communication with people you would not usually get a chance to meet.  Large businesses such as Cisco Systems, Jet Blue, Sun Microsystems and Whole Foods Market also use Twitter to provide product and service information.

So I have finally taken the plunge and signed up for an account to explore how Twitter can help my business.

I plan to explore a few *hot* techniques with Twitter that I will continue to post about here on my blog so you can take the best ones and use them for yourself.  Among the things I’ll be working on are:

  1. Using web applicationsto help locate people to follow e.g. Twubble
  2. Optimising your twitter profile to impress your visitors
  3. Creating a landing page for your account URL to deliver a personal message… this is hot!
  4. How to tweet… seems so simple hey? but it isnt
  5. How to use Twitter to grow your business
  6. How to use Tweet Later

  3. Hi Ryan,

I’m also one of the fortunate people being mentored by Alex.

I found your blog via your comment on The Gazz-Man’s blog and then your YouTube link after watching your video.

I’m extremely impressed with the valuable content you are providing your visitors.

I read your ‘About’ page and after reading it felt like I’d met a kindred spirit - except I’d only spent 6 months paying out for ‘the dream’!

How the Giveaways going - getting many opt-in’s? I’ve had 4 so far and 1 sale of the PPP vids.

I’ve an article due for publication in a magazine at the end of the month - 20,000 circulation, so I’ll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

I’ve a very interesting post on my blog about a potential flaw in the PPP and how to resolve it - customer wasn’t getting access to the videos because of it. Suggest you read it and add the code to prevent any future problems.

    To your success,

    Dave

P.S. I’ve added you to my blogroll and would appreciate being added to yours.

  4. Enjoyed your post about twitter. It can get confusing once you get a couple hundred posting though! There are just SO MANY out there with valuable info, you don’t want to miss it! ;-) Gotta find a happy medium.

  5. Hi Ryan, this is my first visit to your site whilst I am trekking through the long list of Alex’s students blogs. I am getting a lot of interesting information that way from reading their blogs. I am interested in what you have to say about Twitter, I have signed up but unfortunately have not got down to actually using it. To be honest, I am not really sure how it all works, but I will find out as I know it is a really important process to drive traffic.
If you have a minute to spare perhaps you could pay my site a visit and leave a comment. Thanks in anticipation.
    Paull
